This is my first year participating in the A to Z Challenge. The list of participants can be found here. Thanks to Arlee Bird and the co-hosts for hosting this awesome challenge. Check out the site here.
I’m also participating in a mini-hop that got started on theme reveal day when a few of us realized we had similar themes. It’s called Supernatural A to Z. Click below to check out the list of participants. 🙂
Today’s creature is the Ogre. The ogre is usually seen as big and hideous looking. They are depicted as a manlike monster that eats humans especially babies. Another thing about them is that they can be seen as having colored skin. In popular culture, they are in books and movies. My favorite movie is Shrek. Then there is Puss in Boots. In fiction, there is Jack and the Beanstalk and Jack the Giant Killer.
Are ogres the ones who turn to stone in sunlight?

I think that’s trolls that turn to stone. I know they do in LOTR.
Ogre’s are great. And a good topic for today.
You are not the only one doing Ogres today.

They are.
Ah the ogres – I remember them from fairytales; they were big, bad beasties :).

Yeah, they are but I think Shrek made them more lovable. 🙂
And in D&D, they have an armor class of five.
Scary what I remember, huh?
They are definitely scary.
Oh man, I love Shrek! I was just talking about that movie the other day when I saw a community theater is going to be having a production of it this fall. I would be extremely curious to see how it is performed in live theater.

That sounds interesting. I would love to see it.
Funnily enough as they eat humans, I’ve only ever seen them in a humorous light. Shrek is a good example, also the Ogres from Ella Enchanted.
