#AtoZChallenge: Quinotaur

19 Apr

Q

This is my first year participating in the A to Z Challenge. The list of participants can be found here. Thanks to Arlee Bird and the co-hosts for hosting this awesome challenge. Check out the site here.

I’m also participating in a mini-hop that got started on theme reveal day when a few of us realized we had similar themes.  It’s called Supernatural A to Z. Click below to check out the list of participants.  🙂

Today’s interesting creature is the Quinotaur. It is believed to be a sea creature. It is mentioned in the Frankish Chronicle of Fredegar. The term means bull with five horns. The lore behind it is that it attacked the wife of a king and sired children with her. More information can be found here.

I’ve never heard of the quinotaur before, only the minotaur – interesting 🙂

It is. I found out about it when I was trying to come up with a creature that started with Q and it led me to a list and this one just sort of stood out against the rest.

So it’s a sea cow? Wonder if the manatee inspired that creature as well?

This is a new one on me, I always like to find out about new creatures. Five horns seems a little excessive :).

I’m finding all kinds of new creatures myself. It’s been fun. 🙂
