For this one I went with Celeborn. He has got to be one of the most elusive Elves in Middle-Earth. Not a lot is known about him. We know he was married to Lady Galadriel and the father of Lord Elrond’s wife. He was a Grey-eleven lord and kinsman to King Thingol. He had stayed in Rivendell for a while with Lord Elrond’s sons before deciding to leave. Β No one knows how long he stayed before leaving Middle-Earth and sailing from the Grey Havens. Lady Galadriel Β had left at the end of the Third Age without him.
Look forward to your comments about this character and who your favorite ones might be. π
Loving your theme. I thought about doing the same kind of thing only with Harry Potter. Maybe next year though. Great post π
Thanks. I love Harry Potter. That would be cool. π
So he’s a bit of a mystery then? Wonder what he had left to do that he let Galadriel leave without him?

Yes, he is. I think the mystery about him is what made me choose him. So many of the characters are mysterious but at least we know a little about why they stayed behind if they were an elf or what happened to them. π
Great post and neat theme.
Hi, thanks. glad you’re enjoying it. π
As someone who has no idea bout your subjects, I’m finding it doubly interesting.I may even be tempted to delve deeper!
It’s a very interesting set of books and movies. worth reading and watching. π
Haven’t read the series, but I liked his character in the movie. The actor, of which I will not butcher his last name, is a favorite of mine as well. Loved him in XXX.
Cool. Need to add XXX to my list of movies to watch. π
XXX has vin diesel in it too. that way you know you have the right movie.
Cool. I love Vin Diesel. Will definitely check it out.
Proper cloak and dagger guy, this elf! He sounds like he might have had an interesting spin off story.

That he was. I think it would be very interesting. π
Sounds like there’s room for someone to spin a side story here.
I would definitely read it. He was a mysterious one but aren’t all elves mysterious he just happened to more so than most. π
You write about him so eloquently. I had to read your post twice. Your writing makes me want to grab the book and learn more. Thanks for widening my horizons this morning.
Thanks. π Happy to see people enjoying the posts. π
I always wondered about his character. And elves don’t seem to have particular attachment to their spouses, do they?
He is an interesting character. Most elves put on an appearance of being aloof and think they are above everyone else and that attitude could carry over to their attachments to their spouses. I think that’s why they are so mysterious.:)
Celeborn IS elusive. I am not up on him, really. I know Galadriel pretty well, though. She’s something else. I had to consult my list of topics that I am planning to use for next year, since I didn’t do the Tolkien them this year. My choice for C was Cirith Ungol.
But Celeborn is a mighty fine choice, and this is a wonderful post.
Yeah he is. He’s mentioned a few times and I had to go to the Tolkien companion to get some more info on him. Cirith Ungol is a great choice as well. Glad you enjoyed the post. π
Good choice! I always felt he was somewhat reserved, maybe more focused on elven things than interaction with the Nine.
Thanks. Yes, he was. From everything I read about him. He was a very high ranking elf.
