Now, we come to the leader of the dwarves Thorin (II) Oakenshield. He and his nephews Fili and Kili were my favorite dwarves. Even though a couple of the others because of their personalities were my favorites as well. Thorin was King of Durin’s Folk in exile after Erebor was taken by Smaug. He lost many family members during the years in exile due to fighting the Orcs. He came across as uncaring and would put everyone in harm’s way without a thought but I don’t think that was true. I believe he cared deeply for his nephews and didn’t want harm to come to them but at the same time they were learning what Middle-Earth was really like. Some people were peaceful and others were not.

Now, Thranduil, King of Mirkwood was a favorite of mine in that he was a character that I love and hate. I love him because he is what most would think Elves are like which is aloof, uncaring, and won’t help unless it benefits them. In other words, he is the polar opposite of Lord Elrond. Some people would love him because of the way he handled running his kingdom and others would hate him because of his treatment of the dwarves before, during, and after the big battle. When the dragon attacked he turned his back, then threw them in prison when they crossed into Mirkwood, and then basically helped bring the war to the doorstep of Erebor. He was going to turn his back again but certain situations stopped him from doing so.
Look forward to reading your comments. 🙂
Leggy’s daddy needed to have a two by four attitude adjustment. Also, I think he was a few eggs short of a dozen.
Yeah, he was a little off wasn’t he.
