#IWSG: First piece of writing

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

For my post this time I decided to tackle answering the questions put forth by the IWSG. I had to think about it for a bit before coming up with an answer. It was fun though when I took the time to think about my answer. I started writing when I was in middle school. So, I guess you could say that was my first time ever writing anything that I was proud of and knew I loved writing stories. 🙂

What was your very first piece of writing as an aspiring writer? Where is it now? Collecting dust or has it been published?

My very first page of writing would have to be a short story I wrote for 6th grade English class. It could be about anything(we could write a story using our favorite fictional characters if we wanted to) and looking back on it the story was my first piece of fan fiction. I’m not going to go into what fandom my story was based in but I had added an original character to it and made an A. The one and only copy I have is currently packed up in a box with some other early stories I wrote during middle school and high school that I kept. To answer the last question, it’s collecting dust and will not ever be published.

Converting the short story into a novel has been an interesting task. It’s fun though exploring the characters, the world, and making them more complex. The edits on Vampires of New Orleans book 1 is going well. Not sure where I’m headed with it now. The characters have taken it in a slightly different direction and the main character might be changing to one of the other characters. The epic fantasy story has become a monster but I’m slowly chipping away at it. 🙂

There will be updates coming to the blog soon. New pages, etc. It’s been a slow process in pulling everything together but it’s going to happen. 🙂

That’s it for now. Look forward to your comments. 🙂
