IWSG Question: What publishing path are you considering/did you take, and why?

This is an interesting question to answer. I started out thinking it would be self-publishing all the way. I still think it will be as I learn more and more about traditional publishing in my classes.

Both have their pros and cons. I know for my career plan I want to be a self-publisher because I like the fact I can control everything from beginning to end. I know that I take on the financial responsibility and that’s okay. I like that with self-publishing you as the author get a final say on things like the cover for your books.

Traditional publishing is the harder of the two and the publisher bears most of the financial responsibility and that is a pro. I’m not saying that I’m ruling out traditional publishing because I am going to give it a try with at least one book I write just to go through the process at least once.

Look forward to your comments. 🙂

  1. I am aiming for the traditional route, but I won’t deny it’s a tremendous challenge…one I’m not sure I’ll ever meet. But I keep trying…

    1. Hi Liza, the traditional route is a challenge and I’m not ruling out that route completely. I have at least one story I know I’m going to go the traditional route with and then if after a while it’s not garnering interest I will self-publish it. 🙂
