Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.
Hi everyone,
February was interesting to say the least. I did get some writing done. I plan to share about all of that as soon as I can. I am working on the second story (sophomore year) for the Ytherynia series of stories I’m involved in. Second set is slated for later this year. I’m in my third term of school with two terms left to go.
March 3rd optional question(s):
Everyone has a favorite genre or genres to write. But what about your reading preferences? Do you read widely or only within the genre(s) you create stories for? What motivates your reading choice?
These questions are easy for me to answer. My reading preferences are fantasy and paranormal stories. I tend to read series and do read some standalones. I only read within the genre(s) I create stories for. I do occasionally read some mystery and romance. The motivation for my reading choice is that I have always loved fantasy and paranormal stories and I also write fantasy and paranormal stories.
That’s it for now. Look forward to reading your comments. 🙂
Glad you were able to get some writing done last month. I personally did more deleting than writing, but it happens.
I write fantasy, but I don’t tend to read a lot of it. Mostly, however, I read whatever looks interesting and can hold my interest, regardless of genre.
Best of luck with writing and school!
Hi M.J., thanks. I do tend to stick to fantasy but will read a good mystery if it catches my attention. Good luck with your writing.
I enjoy reading fantasy but have not been brave enough to attempt it.
Hi Alex, it’s fun to write fantasy but sometimes it can be frustrating as well to try and be unique.
Congrats on combining writing on your own projects with school. Really. That’s an amazing accomplishment. I mostly write historical fiction, romantic suspense, and poetry — with an occasional short story that could be in any genre. I’ll read just about anything. Especially now during the pandemic, a bold story that takes me out of ‘today’ is quite appealing. Reading through what others have posted always brings encouragement. Today’s lesson? Writers are not quitters. I really liked that and wish you well, balancing papers, exams, and writing!!!!
Hi Beth, Thank you. I agree with you about the story being bold and takes me away from what is going on with the world. Good lesson and I agree writers are not quitters.
