Hi everyone,

Class started on October 1st. I’m taking my first of 3 thesis classes this term. I have to write an additional 20k for Town Curse during the term to give me a total of 35k at end of term. So, I’m going to be working on Town Curse every day which is going to be fun.

When it comes to NaNo though I might take part in it to finish up some of the novel in preparation for the second thesis. We’ll see. I might use NaNo to get a start on the new Dragon story I’ve been working on for a little while.

Will keep everyone posted.

Look forward to your comments 🙂

#IWSG: Publishing Paths….

IWSG Question: What publishing path are you considering/did you take, and why?

This is an interesting question to answer. I started out thinking it would be self-publishing all the way. I still think it will be as I learn more and more about traditional publishing in my classes.

Both have their pros and cons. I know for my career plan I want to be a self-publisher because I like the fact I can control everything from beginning to end. I know that I take on the financial responsibility and that’s okay. I like that with self-publishing you as the author get a final say on things like the cover for your books.

Traditional publishing is the harder of the two and the publisher bears most of the financial responsibility and that is a pro. I’m not saying that I’m ruling out traditional publishing because I am going to give it a try with at least one book I write just to go through the process at least once.

It is August 1st and I have to report that the new short story that I was hoping to have published in October in an anthology isn’t going to happen. I have it about halfway finished but haven’t been able to work on it since the end of May because of school. I’m a little sad that I won’t get it finished in time to have it published this year but I plan to finish it and make it into a full length novel.

I’m spending most of my time working on the story that is my thesis project and other assignments. I’m working on a schedule for this site and the pen name site and on ideas for future posts I hope to start posting on a regular basis soon on both.

That’s it for now. Look forward to your comments. 🙂

So sorry this is getting posted so late today. Didn’t realize that we were posting a day early because of the 4th being tomorrow. Hope everyone has a safe and fun July 4th tomorrow.

Classes are ending this week and my next term starts in two weeks. Will be doing a lot of writing on Town Curse when classes start next term as it is my thesis project. All other writing is going well. Have a new project that I’m outlining right now.

I’m planning to rewrite the vampire series and the shapeshifter series because I’m taking those in a little different direction story wise. This is the plan I have for those two series. The vampire series will be one series, the shapeshifter series will be a series, there is a new elemental series as well, and Witches of Raven’s Nest which Town Curse is book one will be a series but they will be interwoven as far as characters and overall story arc.  The plan I have for them is that they will tell the individual series stories but the characters will be introduced in one of the books from one of the other series and then that character’s story will continue in the series they belong in.

My plan is to publish those under the pen name because I have decided I would like to have everything I write from this point on under the pen name other than a few things unless I can work it out where they can be listed under the pen name but one of those projects won’t be being published until next year any way so I have time to get with the other people involved in it and find out how to go about doing that.

I also plan to start updating the pen name blog and here on a more regular basis. I plan to make some changes to this one and make it a more general blog about writing, my writing updates, and writing related topics in general. I will be leaving up the page where the two short stories that are already published are located.

Look forward to your comments:)

Hi everyone,

How is everyone doing? Good I hope. I’m doing great. The writing is going well. My classes are going good and I’m learning so much in them. I’m taking my first teaching class. So, far I’ve put together a syllabus and now I’m working on lesson plans for the type of writing class I will teach in the future. I’m also taking a class about publishing and have created a rough draft of a query letter, book jacket copy (blurb) and sample covers for the story I’m using for my thesis project. Also, speaking of the thesis project I have a fiction writing class starting in July and I have to have the plot outline, character sketch, and between 2500-3500 words for the first chapter written to submit during class and I have to have the first 25k written by October for my first thesis class. So, I’m going to be doing a lot of writing over the next few weeks and months.

Now, moving on to the news of the short story. I’m currently finishing up a short story that I don’t remember if I talked about on here or not. It’s a story about twin sisters who are wizards and inherit their parents’ wands. One sister is evil and the other good. I don’t want to give anymore than that away right now. I have a deadline of submitting by August 31st. I have about 5000 more words to go on it and then edit it and create a cover for it as well. It supposed to be published in October.

Wish me luck that I can get everything done by the beginning of July. 🙂

Look forward to reading your comments. 🙂

#IWSG: New story idea

Thanks to one of my classes last term I now have a new story idea and it involves elementals. I had to post a story idea based on some pictures the teacher uploaded and came up with the elemental plot and the teacher and my classmates loved the idea and suggested I move forward with writing it.

So, I’m outlining it now and am thinking of revamping the vampire series to be not just about the vampires but elementals and other paranormal/supernatural beings. It would still be a series and the series title would change. I’m also thinking about making the Witches of Raven’s Nest series one that will kind of overlap and involve characters from the new series and the characters from Witches would be in the new series but each book would be an individual story about a character.

I think the two series will be written in the pen name. Of course other than the one story I have coming out later this year I’m thinking everything will be written under the pen name after that.

Let me know what you think. 🙂

Hi everyone,

So sorry this is being posted so late in the day. I admit I forgot about it until a few minutes ago. I have been busy with school. I have two final projects due next week that I’m working on as well as two stories that are due to be submitted soon.

My goal for Camp NaNo is off to a good start I have a little over 4K written of the 15k goal I set for myself. Also, this term has been teaching me a lot about the different genres like speculative fiction. I have read some interesting articles and books this term as well.

For one class I was able to share my knowledge and love for The Lord of the Rings which my goal is to teach classes about Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings, and even The Hobbit. For the other class I have read Stephen King’s On Writing. It was very interesting.

Have some things I’m working on behind the scenes that I will share at a later date.

That’s it for now. 🙂
