#IWSG: Writing and Camp NaNo

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

March is here and the edits/revisions are going great. It looks like I’ll be adding more to the word count and am making a lot of changes to it including title and main character. Classes start next week and I’m looking forward to them. They are about the business of writing and content and copy writing.

I can’t decide if I want to participate in the A to Z challenge or Camp NaNo. The A to Z challenge is a little more time consuming so I might sit out again this year. Camp NaNo is easier because I can set up the word count I want to achieve and I have a story I want to get started on while I do edits/revisions and assignments for class and look for teaching jobs.

The site is going to be going through some changes soon with a few new pages and other things.

Look forward to your comments. 🙂

#IWSG: 1st draft is done. Now to edit/revise it.

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

Good news. I have finished writing Town Curse right around the middle of January.  The total word count is a little over 55k. I put it aside for a few weeks and that February has begun so has the editing/revising of the book.

I’m also working on assignments/projects for my classes. I have started some new outlines for a couple of old stories. Also, outlines for a few new stories are being drafted.

Busy working on post ideas for both sites as well. Updating the other one with new bio, tag line, etc to bring it more in line with what I want the site to achieve. It’s been fun to think about the overall view and brand I want the sites to project to readers. Look for updates coming soon to this one as well.

Look forward to your comments. 🙂

#IWSG: 2019 Goals and Plans

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

It’s a new year and time for new goals and plans. Classes started for me the week before Christmas and we had a holiday break. It was busy around before and after Christmas. I have almost finished Town Curse. I have a little of 6800 words left to go for my total word count of 55k. Then I will let it set until Feb. 1st and start revising and editing it. I will be taking my final thesis class this summer and will be polishing up the story and get it ready for possible publication.

Now onto my goals and plans for 2019.

1. Find a teaching job

2. Finish my Master’s degree

3. Publish Town  Curse

4. Work on several other stories I have started to get them ready for publication next year

5. Refresh this site and the pen name site

6. Launch my publishing company

7. Update both sites more often than I did in 2018.

8. Find Beta readers/critique partners

9. Learn how to create book covers

10. Do something fun like take a class that interests me for personal reasons.

These are my goals and plans for 2019. They are really in no particular order as to what I do first. I just plan to do them this year.

Look forward to your comments. 🙂

Her mind reeled at the pieces of her ordeal filtering back into her memory. Throbbing pain. Splattered blood. Shards of glass. The guy looking younger and transforming into a wolf. What the hell was happening?
“Who are you?” the guy whispered.
“I’m Infiniti. I’m from Houston. Who are you?”
“I’m Joe, and I’m from here. Havenwood Falls.”
“Havenwood Falls?”
“Yeah.” He leaned over the table. “The town close to where you crashed. You were transported to the medical center.” He moved in even closer. “You disappeared.”
She stared at him in disbelief. She pressed her back against the booth. It took her a minute to find her voice. “I what?”
“You vanished. We searched for you for days. Months even. With no leads, we had to give up.”
Her hands folded and unfolded on her lap. Her mind raced. “I crashed. I woke up, and I walked over here.”
“You woke up? As in, just now?”
“Yes.”
Now now?”
“Yes. Like ten minutes ago now.”
His brows stitched together. He rubbed his chin. “So what happened to the last six years?”
Six years?
She examined his face. He most definitely looked six years older, but her car crash had happened that day. So that would be impossible. But then she thought of all the sci-fi movies she’d seen, and all her supernatural paraphernalia at home—her Ouija board, the spiritual cards her neighbor Jan had given her. She was a believer in all things unexplained, but had something otherworldly really happened to her? As in, for real?
Her hands trembled. She shivered. “It’s 2018?”

“Yeah, it’s 2018.”

Title: Book of Dreams Series
Author: Bridgette O’Hare
Genre: YA Paranormal Fantasy
Cover Designer: DARK UNICORN DESIGNS
Editor: Jennifer Green of Plot2Published Editing
Publisher: CLOVERHOUSE PUBLISHING
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:
Halle Michaels is on the brink of insanity.
She’s haunted by dreams that find their way into her reality. Nightmares of death…of destruction. Visions that will uncover the truth – about her abilities, her family’s origins, and her part in a prophecy that could change the world.
And when a mysterious book shows up on her doorstep, those dreams may be all that can save her from an overwhelming evil. One that has its sights set on Halle.
She wanted normal, but normal is overrated. She was born to be so much more.

Blurb:
They say a good book can change your life. For Halle Michaels, it might just end it.
When an old, tattered book shows up on Halle’s doorstep containing undeciphered messages, it brings with it a surge of mysterious incidents, sinister voices, and a code only she understands. A code that could lead to the secrets her father left behind and enemies she never knew existed.
Now, forced to confront a past filled with mysteries and deceptions, Halle realizes the book not only holds the key to uncovering these secrets, but has the power to destroy everything.
Blurb:
To realize who you are, you must forget who they taught you to be
.
Darkness flows through Halle Michaels. Darkness suppressed by the expectations of being the ideal daughter, the perfect friend, and the stereotypical girl next door.
Now, her family’s past has caught up to her. When Halle discovers she was meant to follow in her father’s footsteps—footsteps she’s certain led to his untimely death—she must forget every lie she’s been taught about who she is.
Hunted by Hell’s elite and armed only with what she can decipher from her father’s cryptic journal, she turns to Aedan Jeremiah for answers, unsure she can trust him.
Halle wants the truth, but the longer truth is twisted in shadows, the harder it is to recognize in the light.
Can Halle move beyond the deceit, or will she be consumed by the darkness that stole her father from her?
Bridgette O’Hare is a writerly life form surviving on high doses of chocolate, excessive episodes of Supernatural, and copious amounts of snark.
She spends her time in search of sleep, witty co-conspirators, the planet Gallifrey, and ways to unleash treachery upon her characters in interesting ways . . . or you may find her instigating shenanigans on Facebook.
She’s the proud Mum of two highly entertaining humans and she resides on the coast of North Carolina.
Bridgette is recommended by 4 out of 5 people that recommend things. Number 5 was unavailable for comment.

#IWSG: Story Update and My Writing Space

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

How is everyone on this fine Wednesday in December? I have written right at 40,000 words for Town Curse now. The story is shaping up and I like the path it has taken right now. There are some interesting twists unfolding for the main character and some of the other characters. I have to write another 20,000 words for my next thesis but NaNo helped me to get a jump on that. I have right now about 2500 words written for the 20,000 assignment(s) for next term which starts the week before Christmas for me. I only have 3 more terms and I’ll have my degree. I will receive my online teaching certification in January. This will be a birthday present for me as my birthday is happening right around the time I receive it. The other 3 terms will finish up the creative writing side of the degree.

IWSG Optional Question:

What are five objects we’d find in your writing space?

That’s easy. The first object would be my laptop which I do all my writing and schoolwork on. The second object would be post-it notes. The third would be pens and highlighters. The fourth would be folders which hold my syllabi and class assignment grade rubrics. The fifth object would be my textbooks and other reference books I use.
