#IWSG: Story Update and My Writing Space

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

How is everyone on this fine Wednesday in December? I have written right at 40,000 words for Town Curse now. The story is shaping up and I like the path it has taken right now. There are some interesting twists unfolding for the main character and some of the other characters. I have to write another 20,000 words for my next thesis but NaNo helped me to get a jump on that. I have right now about 2500 words written for the 20,000 assignment(s) for next term which starts the week before Christmas for me. I only have 3 more terms and I’ll have my degree. I will receive my online teaching certification in January. This will be a birthday present for me as my birthday is happening right around the time I receive it. The other 3 terms will finish up the creative writing side of the degree.

IWSG Optional Question:

What are five objects we’d find in your writing space?

That’s easy. The first object would be my laptop which I do all my writing and schoolwork on. The second object would be post-it notes. The third would be pens and highlighters. The fourth would be folders which hold my syllabi and class assignment grade rubrics. The fifth object would be my textbooks and other reference books I use.

#IWSG: Writing…

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

I couldn’t decide what to write about this time. The writing is going well. I love the direction I have decided to take the vampire series in and the change of the main character. The fantasy novel has grown a lot with just the list of characters alone. I may look at getting rid of some of them when it’s  time to revise. Not sure all of them will stay because they really don’t fit the story even now but I’m not going to stop writing it. Will make those decisions about them after the initial draft is done.

Hope to add fun new things to the blog over the next few months. I’m sitting down this week to plan out posts and possibly new pages to add that will be entertaining to everyone. 🙂

That’s it for now. Look forward to reading your comments. 🙂

#IWSG: Writing and Word Count Goals

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

Afternoon everyone. I’m so sorry I nearly forgot about this month’s post. Have been busy the last few days cleaning up my desk and moving things around so that hopefully the writing goes better now that all my projects are in one place instead of scattered around the room. 🙂

I’m working on creating a newslettter so look for the sign up box to go up soon. Also, working on some fun posts that I hope to have posted soon.

The writing is going well not like I want it to though but that is okay. I’m still writing each day which is good. May decide to do away with daily word count goals and just write each day and whatever count I reach I’ll be happy with. The goal is to write everyday anyway so I think for me trying to have daily word goals is something I can’t do because I get frustrated when I fall short of the goal for the day. I’ll still have monthly goals to try and stick to but get rid of the daily ones that way no matter what I’ll be happy with the writing I accomplish at the end of the day. 🙂

That’s it for now.

Look forward to your comments. 🙂

#IWSG: First piece of writing

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

For my post this time I decided to tackle answering the questions put forth by the IWSG. I had to think about it for a bit before coming up with an answer. It was fun though when I took the time to think about my answer. I started writing when I was in middle school. So, I guess you could say that was my first time ever writing anything that I was proud of and knew I loved writing stories. 🙂

What was your very first piece of writing as an aspiring writer? Where is it now? Collecting dust or has it been published?

My very first page of writing would have to be a short story I wrote for 6th grade English class. It could be about anything(we could write a story using our favorite fictional characters if we wanted to) and looking back on it the story was my first piece of fan fiction. I’m not going to go into what fandom my story was based in but I had added an original character to it and made an A. The one and only copy I have is currently packed up in a box with some other early stories I wrote during middle school and high school that I kept. To answer the last question, it’s collecting dust and will not ever be published.

Converting the short story into a novel has been an interesting task. It’s fun though exploring the characters, the world, and making them more complex. The edits on Vampires of New Orleans book 1 is going well. Not sure where I’m headed with it now. The characters have taken it in a slightly different direction and the main character might be changing to one of the other characters. The epic fantasy story has become a monster but I’m slowly chipping away at it. 🙂

There will be updates coming to the blog soon. New pages, etc. It’s been a slow process in pulling everything together but it’s going to happen. 🙂

That’s it for now. Look forward to your comments. 🙂

#IWSG: Events and Writing

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.

January has come to an end and I was able to accomplish writing at least 20k on a new story, started rewriting the vampire series, jotted down notes on some of the others. I went through my story ideas file and found a couple of plots I really want to work on in the near future. So, I starterd working on outlines for those for when I’m ready to work on them. I’ve found my writing has greatly improved since I’ve started writing on a daily basis. I write articles for two other sites as well as coming up with posts for this one and working on my stories and that is fun.

I have two events coming up this year that I’m looking forward to being involved in. The first one happens in March and the second one happens in October. The first one is a book signing (meet and greet) for local authors being held at a branch of the local library. It’s going to be so much fun and I’ll post pics from the event. 🙂

The second one is Virtual Fantasy Con. It happens in October. This one is going to be fun as well. I found out about it last year and checked out some of things they had going on and liked it. So, it was an easy decision to sign up for this year’s event. I will share more about this in other post so I can share more about it.

There’ll be a couple of more posts this week. So, be looking for them. Have a great day. 🙂

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants. Alex has another big announcement this morning. It can be found here.

The exciting news I can now let you in on is that I’m now writing a column and doing book reviews over at The Peasants Revolt.  Want to give a shout out to Fel and the other ladies I’m working with over there.  Go check it out and learn more about each of us. 🙂

My writing is going great again. I had a few hard weeks in September where nothing was going right with the novel I’m working on. I hope to have chapters ready for my crit partners soon. I finally made a breakthrough on the issue I was having with the first chapter of the book.

I started taking a class called Online Games: Literature, New Media, and Narrative as well.  I love the class because we are playing The Lord Of The Rings online, reading Fellowship Of The Ring, and watching Fellowship Of The Ring.  The class can be found here. If you like or love The Lord Of The Rings then you definitely want to check the class out and the coolest thing about it is the class is free.

This month my writing goal is to get ready for NaNo. Not sure if I’m participating this year with I have going on writing and personal wise. Maybe, I’ll use NaNo to start the new horror book that I’ve been taking notes on. Speaking of horror, I’ll be posting Halloween related goodies soon like favorite books and movies among other things.

IWSG and other news

Thanks to Alex for hosting this each month. Here is the complete list of participants.  There is some exciting news about the IWSG that Alex has shared here.

The writing is going great. I’m working on the two stories I talked about last month. I have the one for the Dark Crystal author quest almost ready to submitted. Glad I have a little more time with that one.

The Fairy hunter story is moving along as well. I’ve hit a little snag with the opening scene of it. Trying to get it reworked so I can send my crit partners the first couple of chapters. Hope to be able to do that soon.

Also, have a few exciting things I’m going to be taking part in soon. Will let you know soon what one of those things is. 🙂

One last tidbit of information that is exciting as well. Many of you know that Fel of The Peasants Revolt is redoing the site. She has set up a Facebook event for Sunday September 15th for the reboot of the site and to meet the new team of bloggers that will be working with her on the site. Here is the link for it.

Also, The site is taking requests for book reviews, which can be submitted here and feature requests (interview, cover reveal, guest post, etc) can be submitted here

insecurewriterssupportgroupThanks again to Alex for hosting this along with his co-hosts each month.

My goals from this last month have carried over to this month. Still working on my new Fae story and the Dark Crystal author quest entry. Here is the link for anyone who wants to check it out The Dark Crystal.

Unfortunately, I didn’t finish Camp NaNo. That’s okay. I have November to look forward to. I hope to get as much writing done this month as I start 3 online classes in September that will take away some of my writing time.  Hope to have at least one of my novels and possibly one of my screenplays ready to send out in the next couple of months. Will keep everyone posted on everything.

First, I want to say how much I enjoy being part of this group. So, this month has started off great. I’ve gotten back into the groove of writing after a few months’ hiatus. Have started a new story. Not sure if it will be a series or not at this point. It’s a Fae story. The main character is a fairy hunter who falls for the guy she’s supposed to be going after. Chaos ensues.

Another story I’m working on is for the Dark Crystal Author Quest. Here’s the link for anyone who wants to check it out Dark Crystal. Have put my two series’ on hiatus for now. My muses for those have taken a vacation for now. It was hard to put them on hold for now but I think starting the new stuff has re-energized my writing.

The link list for the other great blogs can be found here IWSG

Keep writing! Have a good day everyone!

This month has me trying to get back into the swing of writing again. Stepped away for a little while. Had a lot of personal things going on. It has been hard trying to get back into the writer frame of mind and back to my characters.

Writing wise I’m rewriting my first series which is a vampire series. Thank you to my two crit partners for all of your great suggestions and comments on the first book of the series.

Also, I’ve started researching and outlining a little on a new project that I’ll tell you about in a few weeks. Work on my second series which is my shape-shifter series is moving along as well.

Have a few things that need to be added to the blog. Hope to get around to those in the next few weeks. Will be updating and making some changes to blog as well.

Have a great day everyone. 🙂

Thanks again to Alex J. Cavanaugh  for hosting IWSG each month. The list of participants can be found here.
